Sekondi Hasaacas Football Club’s goalkeeper, Shaibu Rafique Issah had his Black Starlets debut in their 4 – 2 defeat to Nigeria’s Super Eaglets in the West Africa Football Union Under – 17 Championship on-going at Cape Coast, Ghana.
The 14-year-old shot stopper came on as a second half substitute to replace Ahmed Amadu Dembarah who had conceded 3 goals before the 59th minute mark.
The game ended 4 – 2 as Shaibu Rafique had a goal at the back of his twine, Nigeria’s 4th on the day.
Shaibu Rafique Issah made the headlines when he registered his name as the youngest goalkeeper to feature for Hasaacas in a competitive game when he started the team’s 1 – 0 defeat to Ghana Premier League side, Bibiani Gold Stars in the Round of 64 of the 2021/2022 MTN FA Cup.
He went on to make a league appearance for Hasaacas against BYF Academy at the Gyandu Park.
In a Memorial Match for Late Nana Kwesi Mensah against Sekondi Hasaacas’ city rivals’ Sekondi Eleven Wise, Shaibu Rafique Issah came on as a second half substitute and when the game went to penalty kicks after 1 – 1 in regulation time – Shaibu Rafique saved two penalties as Hasaacas progressed to the final with a 4 – 2 win on spot kicks.
