The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially announced the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming 2025 Unity Cup, with several high-profile omissions raising eyebrows among fans and pundits alike.

The highly anticipated West African derby will see Nigeria face long-time rivals Ghana in the semi-final clash scheduled for Tuesday, May 28 at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford. The match will kick off at 19:00 GMT.

The victor of this intense encounter will move on to face either Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago in the final on Saturday, May 31, kicking off at 12:30 GMT.

Head coach Eric Chelle has assembled a competitive squad, though notable absentees include key figures such as Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, Joe Aribo, and Calvin Bassey.

Despite the exclusions, the Super Eagles will field a formidable lineup. Premier League midfielders Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka headline the central unit, bringing stability and experience. In attack, Kelechi Iheanacho, Samuel Chukwueze, and Moses Simon are expected to lead the frontline.

Meanwhile, all eyes are on Ghana coach Otto Addo, who is expected to release the Black Stars’ final squad for the tournament in the coming days.

The 2025 Unity Cup presents a fresh opportunity for both teams to assert regional dominance and test squad depth ahead of upcoming continental competitions.
