In a nail-biting match at Ubworoherane Stadium this past Sunday, Peter Agblevor’s well-timed 51st-minute strike proved to be the game-changer, earning Musanze FC a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Rayon Sports.
The Ghanaian forward’s clinical finish brought jubilation not only to the home fans but also to the club’s management, highlighting his exceptional form.
This crucial triumph catapulted Musanze FC to the summit of the Primus National League standings.
Right from the opening whistle, Musanze demonstrated their determination, with Agblevor and Nicholas Ashade leading a relentless offensive charge. However, Rayon Sports’ steadfast defense, led by Isaac Mitima and Abdul Rwatubyaye, put up a stout resistance, thwarting numerous scoring attempts.
On the other side, Blues’ striker Musa Esenu had his fair share of opportunities in front of goal during the first half, yet he couldn’t find the mark, leaving the scoreline level at halftime.
After the break, Musanze FC returned with heightened intensity, eventually breaking the deadlock in the 51st minute, courtesy of Agblevor’s sixth goal in seven league games this season.
The Ghanaian player received a precise pass within Rayon’s penalty area and unleashed a pinpoint shot past goalkeeper Simon Tamale, securing a 1-0 triumph for Musanze FC.
With this pivotal win, the Northern Province-based side now sits atop the league table with 16 points, enjoying a two-point lead over APR FC, who have played one game less.
