Five burnt to ashes in crash on Techiman-Kintampo Highway

An unfortunate incident occurred on Friday night near Bono Manso, a town located in the Bono East Region, resulting in the burning deaths of five individuals.

A passenger bus, reportedly traveling at a high speed from Kintampo towards Techiman, collided head-on with a trailer carrying suspected alcoholic beverages coming from the opposite direction.

Shortly after the collision, the bus caught fire, leading to a devastating inferno that engulfed both vehicles.

According to the police, three people from the bus and two from the trailer, including the driver, lost their lives in the accident.

However, eyewitness testimonies suggest that the actual number of casualties might be higher.

Witnesses informed Adom News’ Wiafe Akenten that the bus was attempting to overtake another vehicle when the collision occurred, resulting in a fiery explosion that claimed the lives of many passengers on both vehicles.

Nabilla Francis Sayuub, the Assemblyman for the Bono Manso Electoral Area, reported from the accident scene that he received information about the incident late on Friday night.

He mentioned that only a small number of passengers, around four, were rescued. However, he was uncertain about the origin and destination of the bus.

Joseph Kwasi Mensah, the Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North, also visited the accident site and was informed that approximately 30 people may have perished in the blaze.

He appealed to drivers to exercise caution, avoid speeding, and prioritize the preservation of lives.
