Where are the other female artists in the Western Region – Sally M asks

It is almost nearing a broken record that Sally M has to answer the question on the whereabouts of other female artists who began doing music in the Western Region and currently seems to have backed out after a long hiatus from the music scene.

The Ghanaian Artist, currently rising through the thorny road of Western Region and its creative space was once again asked what necessitated the break or for lack of a better word the long hiatus of most female artists from the western region, numbering an umpteen time she has been asked such question.

Unlike the Gospel space that has seen several names risen through the ranks to compete nationally and internationally, the circular space seems to always struggle to find feet among the top performers nationally and almost always lose steam along the way.

Names like Abna, Ayma, Esy and Shola to mention but a few have at one point showed glimpses of being the torchbearers for the female singer to hoist the western region flag but to what end?

Currently, Sally M, S3kyerewaa and Naana Blu remain key names in the female circular music scene that are active and have released songs in the year 2023.

In an interview with Sista Okesie of Azay FM on the late afternoon drive on Friday, August 4, 2023 and again asked why her colleague female artists are no longer vibrant, Sally M had this to say and called on the media to give equal attention and considerations to both genders because they are equally talented.

“There are rumors that some men act as predators and ask for sex in exchange for favors which many female abhor such and therefore lose the interest in pursuing this illustrious careers.

“I ask, where are they[the other female artists]…they need to be back so we can get this going” – she asked jovially when questioned whether she is the best female artist currently in the region.

Sally M, born Sally Mugabe Hayfron has a new song out titled Feeling which she featured Ahkan of Ruff and Smooth fame. The song released on all platforms on July 21, is currently her most streamed song as compared to her debut single Attention Love released exactly a year ago and Makoma, her second single released on November 11, 2023.
