The Headmistress of Breman-Asikuma Senior High School, Ms Sarah Baah – Odoom outlines preparations of the final year students towards WASSCE 2021.
She pointed out that, there has been several activities organised for the candidates to ensure effective teaching and learning to improve their WASSCE performance.
“A total of 425 males and 447 females totalling 872 candidates have been registered for WASSCE 2021. Management is working hard to ensure effective teaching and learning to further improve the 2020 WASSCE results. Early morning and after school classes were conducted for the candidates before they wrote their mock” she said.
Ms. Sarah Baah- Odoom revealed that, management of the institution is striving to inculcate the zeal to excel in students.
She identified that, three seminars have been organised for the candidates, explaining that the first seminar was organised by management of the school on June 26, 2021 with the Interim President of BASSOSA, Mr. Joseph F. Gordon as one of the facilitators with Mr. Robert Donkoh, UN youth Ambassador, BASSOSA 2005 and Mr. Abdul Rahman Anakwa the Guidance and Counseling Coordinator.
“The second seminar conducted on July 09, 2021 was by the Institute for Research and Educational Development (IREAD), where seasoned examiners took the candidates through the core subjects. The third one organised by the District Educational Services was on July 15, 2021” she added.
She disclosed that, the science department also held a two-day science clinic for all candidates on Wednesday, August 18 and Thursday, August 19, 2021 to thoroughly prepare the final year students for WASSCE 2021.
SIGNING OF UNDERTAKING
Ms. Sarah Baah – Odoom stated that, the parents of the candidates witnessed an undertaking being signed by their wards on Saturday, July 10, 2021 to a reason of the students pledging to be serious with their academic work, obedient to school rules and regulations and to not destroy any school property which was supervised by the Court Registrar of AOB, Mr. Abdulai Yakubu.
MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME
“A 25 -member team from the University of Ghana, Legon, led by Prof.Godfred Bokpin, Dean of Students Affairs organized a very successful mentorship programme in the school on Friday, August 20, 2021 for all the students” the Headmistress said.
CLIMAX
The Headmistress said the preparations were climax with a three- day Revival and Thanksgiving service from Thursday August 19, to Saturday August 21, 2021 organized by the school Chaplaincy Committee for both staff and candidates for God’s guidance and protection.
“It was crowned with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, August 22 ,2021 for the final year students and their parents.The parents prayed, blessed and advised their wards” Ms Sarah Baah Odoom said.
