The assets of the late Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, alias Sir John, a former Forestry Commission CEO, have been frozen by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Sources in the Office of the Special Prosecutor hinted this is part of the investigation into the acquisition of public lands and estates contained in Sir John’s Will.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor announced last month that it has launched full investigations into suspected corruption and corruption-related offences involving the former Forestry Commission CEO’s alleged and illegal acquisition of state lands at the Achimota forest enclave and the Ramsar site.
A statement signed by the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, indicates that Sir John including other persons will be investigated.
The special prosecutor has requested the Ministry of Land and Natural Resources to fully cooperate with the OSP in the investigations since they would play an essential role in the inquiry.
The decision to initiate the investigation followed the publishing of a will purportedly be written by Sir John.
The ten-page paper has been spreading on social media, and it comes after the government stated that it will safeguard the Achimota forest reserve.
