Renewed clashes in the suburb of Yong Dakpemyili, near Tamale, have resulted in the death of one individual and injuries to several others.
According to Abdul Wahab Dawuda, the Assembly member for the area, a reprisal attack occurred on Saturday morning following a shooting incident on Thursday night.
During the Saturday incident, three homes were set on fire, prompting some residents to flee the community. The police have intervened to restore peace and order in the area.
The Northern Region Police are already conducting an investigation into the earlier shooting.
Sources within the community have reported gunshots on Thursday, May 18, 2023. This incident is believed to be linked to a long-standing chieftaincy dispute between two brothers residing in the community.
Abdul Wahab Dawuda, the Assemblyman for the community, confirmed the occurrence of the incident and stated in an interview that some residents sustained injuries.
He expressed that although the community is currently calm, the future remains uncertain.
