The Bolgatanga High Court sentenced to death a fetish priest from Kulpelga in Tongo in the Talensi district of the Upper East Region for the murder of his wife and daughter.
A seven-member jury convicted the fetish priest guilty.
The fetish priest Mbawona Tindana, 37, was arrested in 2019 on suspicion of murdering his wife, Talata Abigail Kurug (25), and daughter, Nyapoka Mbawona Tindana (2), and offering them to his gods.
According to the facts of the case, he cut off their heads with an axe after accusing both wife and daughter of witchcraft.
Tindana was prosecuted before the Bolgatanga High Court and charged by the State with two counts of murder for causing the death of his wife and daughter unlawfully and willfully, in violation of articles of the Criminal Offences Act of 1960, Act 29.
His Lordship After the seven-member Jury reached a decision, the Regional Supervising High Court Judge, Charles Adjei Wilson, presided over the case.
He received the death penalty.
Tindana will be held in the Navrongo central jail until his fate is determined.
