A tragic incident occurred in Kasoa and its surrounding areas in the Awutu Senya East District of the Central Region, where a family of three was swept away by floodwaters after hours of heavy rain.
According to a reports, a woman and her two children, aged nine and five, were attempting to escape their room, which was rapidly filling with rainwater. Unfortunately, just moments after stepping out into the flooded area, they were washed away.
As of now, their bodies have not yet been found or recovered. The relentless downpour on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, caused significant devastation throughout the day, leaving over a thousand residents homeless and numerous properties destroyed.
Additionally, parts of the Assin South District experienced flooding, resulting in widespread damage. The affected residents attributed the flooding to the obstruction of natural water paths by estate developers.
