Over 20,000 birds have been killed by bird influenza also know as bird flu outbreak barely two weeks ago in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality in the Western North Region of Ghana.
Municipal Agric Director Mr. Augustine Amaning Kwarteng speaking to Adehyie FM explained that the outbreak has affected six different farms in two weeks within the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal.
He further indicated that the latest outbreak killed about 8,500 birds at a go which is not a good news.
Mr. Kwarteng took the opportunity to advise the farms to double their steps as soon as possible to report any unfamiliar reaction or signs of the birds to any near by agric office or any veterinary office for further checks investigation.
Municipal NCCE Director, Madam Martha Enelka Okpara also advised the farmers to report such cases early to the appropriate authorities to help do further investigation about what exactly the problem is and when they become affected the should open up for them to be killed to prevent further and future outbreak.
Madam Martha Enelka Okpara again speaking to the Municipal NADMO coordinator Mr. Asante Bonnah, signed a caution to the general public to be extra vigilant about where to patronize fowls from and desist from buying “Donkomi” birds from the market off later and no one should make an attempt to eat or sell any of the affected birds it’s against the law and who so ever does that does it in his own risk.
