MTN CEO assures customers of MoMo safety

The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, Stephen Blewett, has reassured customers, particularly users of the MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) service, that their funds remain safe with the company.
Speaking at a Media and Stakeholder Forum held at the Nim Avenue Hotel in Tamale on Friday (16 May), Blewett stated that MTN works with trusted financial institutions to ensure the safety of mobile money transactions.
“We don’t keep your money in our back pockets. We work with the banks. So it is safer with the banks,” Blewett  said.

Blewett also advised MoMo users against sharing their PINs or login details with anyone, stressing that such actions expose them to the risk of fraud.
“I have a bank account in Ghana. If I give you my PIN or login details, you can do whatever you want with my bank account,” he said.
The CEO acknowledged the growing threat of social engineering tactics but noted that MTN continues to invest in technology and security systems to provide a safer and more secure mobile money experience.
