Ghana suffered a 1-0 defeat to Burkina Faso in the semifinals of the West Africa Football Union Zone B U-17 Championship.
The Black Starlets conceded from the penalty spot in the second half which saw the Burkinabé side going all the way to next year’s African U-17 Cup of Nations in Algeria and the final of the tournament.
The Paa Kwasi Fabin led side will have to wait for the 2024 edition of the tournament to try for a place in the next edition.
It’s now two consecutive tries from the Ghana side failing to show up at the continental competition.
It was a closely contested encounter between the two nations but the Togolese Referee spotted an infringement by Collins Agyemang on the Burkinabé attacker inside Ghana’s penalty box and did not hesitate to award the spot kick.
Ousmane Camara turned up to send Shaibu Rafique Issah the wrong way to register the only goal of the game on the 63rd minute.
The Burkina Faso side clinched a 1-0 win to set up a final against Nigeria on Friday June 24, 2022 and a ticket to the CAF U-17 Championship in Algeria next year.
