Don’t Deny Students Owing Fees From Writing Exams – GES PRO

The Central Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service, Ms Rebecca Quainoo instructs headmasters in both Private and government institutions not to prevent any student from writing the ongoing WASSCE because of the non-payment of fees and other levies.

Speaking with the media, Ms Quainoo said the examination holds the future of the students and preventing the candidates from writing the exams could jeopardise with their future.

She appealed to the heads of all secondary institutions to allow the students to write the examination as measures are in place to let the students pay it later when they going for their certificate.

“Even when there was no free SHS, secondary institutions were advised to allow the candidates write how much more that secondary institutions are free. We shouldn’t restrict them from writing, whatever it is, they will come back for signatures and other important documents,” she pointed.

She noted that all the exams materials are in place to ensure effective examination for WASSCE 2021.

“We’ve provided and made the necessary arrangements for the exams to be successful,” she said.

Ms Rebecca Quainoo also made mention of the total candidates registered and expected to write the 2021 WASSCE.

“A total of 20,783 females and 21,306 males registered for the exams making a sum of 42,089 candidates who are sitting for the 2021 WASSCE in the central region,” she revealed.

She also urged invigilators to desist from aiding candidates in the examination halls to avoid consequences.

“We’ve spoken to the invigilators to avoid any form of examination malpractice; being it from the students or the invigilators helping the students. If they don’t want any trouble, they should go according to the examination rule” she said.

Ms Rebecca Quainoo also disclosed that, there’s a policy which will aid candidates who found themselves in certain situations.

“The GES has imposed a policy called the re-entry policy for candidates who unfortunately are pregnant and even those who have given birth so that, the they can be part of the exams successful,” she added.
