Farmers in the Twifo-Atti Morkwa district of Central region calls on government to establish a pension- scheme policy for Ghanaian farmers.
According to the farmers, they face a lot of troubles on the farming field which seriously affect their health resulting to prematurity.
The farmers therefore appeals to the President to introduce farmers’ pension scheme policy as he pledged to introduce “cocoa pension scheme” when he was re- elected as President of the country in 2020.
Speaking on Sweet Fm, Mr. Isaac Agyiri, AKA Show boy ,the 2020 Overall Best Farmer of Twifo Atti-Morkwa District, outlined three transformational changes he thinks when adopted, will improve the socioeconomic standard of farmers and can transform the agricultural industry in the country.
He pointed that, establishment of Planting For Food and Jobs shops where farming inputs are sold to farmers with subsidized prices will be of good help.
He added that, resourcing every district with tractors on affordable terms where large scale farmers can access some on their farms will bring positive outcome.
He lastly said, establishment of more Agric colleges and universities that will train more teachers and Agric officers, who will go to the various schools and communities to impart the acquired knowledge into the students and the farmers will improve farming system in the community and country as a whole.
