UTAG resumes duties from Monday

The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) calls off strike to resume duties from tommorow, Monday August 23, 2021.
This follows an
emergency meeting with the UTAG leaders, the Ministry of employment and labour Relations and the National labour commission on Wednesday August 18,2021.
Both parties have agreed to resolve and discontinue the legal proceedings concerning the protracted strike with a timeline of one- month to settle all outstanding issues.
“We have suspended the strike. One will realize that our strike has brought a lot to a standstill, so I believe that when management in the various universities gives order, things will get to normal” National president of UTAG, Professor Charles Marfo said.
This follows a memorandum of agreement signed by both parties to get back to negotiating table from Monday, August 23, 2021.
During the period, government and UTAG will negotiate the research components of the book and research allowance, market premium, and non- basic allowance among other things.
